Committed to re-imagining education in South Africa and nurturing environmental consciousness at a young age, Earth Ant has teamed up with Starseed Community School to give back to the community of Muizenberg.
Starseed Community School is an NGO co-created by a group of parents and teachers in the spirit of pushing the boundaries of education. They envision a future where children grow up with reverence for the natural world, where equity and human dignity and respect is the reality, and where we can all thrive in our neighbourhoods as ecosystems of learning.
Based in Muizenberg, Cape Town, this Waldorf-inspired school is collectively run by teachers and parents. Much of the learning happens outdoors and across community spaces, as well as in their school home.
The children and teachers come from very mixed backgrounds and lived experiences across our vibrant – but also deeply unequal – local communities. They are trying a courageous financial model to ensure access to every child regardless of economic situation.
